Foreign Language
- Spanish I: Students are introduced to the fundamental language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as basic vocabulary and grammar. Students learn to exchange information in simple terms on topics related to themselves, their families, and everyday activities. Students will progress from using basic phrases to engaging in dialogues, singing songs, watching videos, playing games, and presenting projects in Spanish. The overall objective for the year is to develop the ability to communicate authentically at a basic level. This course fulfills one High School Foreign Language Requirement.
STEM
- PLTW I: Robotics & Automation: Students explore robotics, engineering, and automation through the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum using VEX IQ Classroom Kits, tablets, and coding tools to build, program, test, and improve robots that solve real-world problems. Through hands-on STEM challenges, they develop creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, perseverance, communication, and problem-solving skills while learning to use technology with purpose, responsibility, and integrity.
- PLTW II: Flight & Space: Students explore aviation, aerospace, and space exploration through PLTW Flight & Space while learning about the science and engineering behind flight. Through handson STEM challenges, they study forces of flight, aircraft design, propulsion, navigation, and space exploration while designing, testing, and improving solutions. This course builds creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence as students apply STEM concepts with purpose and integrity.
The Arts
- Art I: This course expands students’ understanding of visual art through hands-on exploration of various media and techniques. Students will develop foundational skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, and design while learning to apply the elements of art (line, shape, color, etc.) and principles of design (balance, contrast, emphasis, etc.). Through mixed media projects, students will express their creativity and develop their personal artistic voice. The course also includes an introduction to art history, highlighting key artists and movements. Students will build a personal portfolio, strengthen critical thinking skills, and practice art analysis of both their own work and that of others.
- Journalism: This elective offers students an opportunity to explore the worlds of yearbook production, creative writing, and journalism. This course encourages creativity, collaboration, and strong communication, making it perfect for students interested in storytelling and media.
- Live Production & Creative Graphics: This elective explores a different creative media focus each quarter. Areas of study include production, photography, videography, and graphic design. Throughout the year, students will engage in practical, hands-on experiences in each of these disciplines. They will contribute to chapel services and school programs, create content for social media, and develop valuable skills in various aspects of media production. All necessary materials for the class will be provided.
- Musical Theater: Musical Theater at Christ Fellowship Academy offers students the opportunity to develop their acting and vocal skills through engaging performances. While not all students may be required to both act and sing, each will participate on stage in some capacity—either through acting or singing. This course aims to enhance students’ stage presence and performance abilities, providing a platform to express their talents and creativity. Additionally, students will learn to honor God with their abilities by leading chapels, integrating faith into their artistic expression. The program will include one major performance, with additional performances scheduled throughout the year showcasing students’ growth and dedication.
- Orchestra I: Violin & Cello: For beginners to intermediate students, this course will offer an introduction to strings with the violin and cello, with plans to advance to include the viola and double bass in future years. Students will learn to read sheet music, play the instrument of choice, and participate in two major performances: Winter & Spring. This course requires an instrument rental fee (or purchase if desired). Rental cost ranges between $180-$420 depending on the instrument rented from the company recommended. This elective may require additional after school practice weekly.
